Teddy Roosevelt lived in this log cabin while he worked as a cowboy on a ranch. You can visit it in North Dakota.
After the United States went to war with Spain in 1898, Teddy Roosevelt recruited troops to fight. He and his troops were called Rough Riders. After leading the Rough Riders in a charge, shown here, Roosevelt became a hero. He was chosen to run for vice president in 1900.
